The many ups and downs of playing poker

authorHow to play poker | March 31, 2008

Hello-

This month has been up and down.  I’ve been playing more cash games due to my lackluster results of playing MTTs.  I really need to control my emotions and stop going on tilt so much playing cash games.  The players are really bad and when they suckout over and over again it really gets me off my game.

This past Saturday I played 2 sessions of cash.  In the first session, I was 4 tabling and lost about $120 playing .25/.50 NL.  I took a break to eat and then fired up the tables again.

I won all my money back and more in less than 10 mins of sitting down.  I resucked out against a guy who flopped trip queens when I had pocket kings when the river brought my third king.  There was another guy along for the ride who couldn’t fold 99 on a Q high flop so I tripled up on that hand.

And then it was downhill from there.

The bad thing about playing online poker is that you get to see more hands in a shorter period of time and the good thing about playing online poker is you get to see more hands in a shorter period of time.  This works well when you’re playing good and winning but not so good when you are playing bad or on tilt.

I lost about 6 buyins after being up 3 buyins in less than 10 mins.  You cannot quit while you’re running good and winning so that’s why I did not leave after I had recovered my losses.

That’s poker.
